The weather is getting warmer by the day and each consequent fast is longer than the previous one. With Ramazan in Summers, we are all turning into versions of ourselves that on regular days are less conspicuous.

As far as I’ve observed, there are 5 types of rozay-dars this Ramazan and each one of us falls in at least one of these categories.

These are the most common type of Rozay-dars that we can find during this holy month.

Almost everyone including myself feels dead lazy and sleepy. To wake up for work and go to office seems like a “mission impossible” and unlike Tom Cruise’s high-octane thrillers, this version is entirely in slow motion!

It is quite safe to say that most of us fall into the category of sloths with our energy levels all but drained till the time of iftar.

These people are un-recognizably good Muslims or momins during the fasting hours. But as soon as they are done with the iftar they turn into, well…the “Abhi tou party shuru huwi hai” types.

I’m not being judgmental, just very curious at how they manage to juggle between the two extremes every day for a whole month?!

Then there are these people – perpetually angry and ready to snap at the drop of a hat!

They are always in a bad mood, ready to pick a fight on the street, in the workplace, in the bazaars and even while driving!

I believe most of these people are smokers or heavy tea/coffee drinkers and the lack of nicotine or caffeine in their system brings out the worst in them when fasting.

I wish each time the angry hulks have an urge to open their mouths to scream, they would first take a moment to remind themselves that Ramazan is a month of patience, tolerance, endurance and empathy. And so, their anger is only depriving them from experiencing the blessings of this holy month!

I am sure everyone in their group of friends has that one person who does nothing but complain about being hungry and thirsty  throughout the day.

Listening to someone complaining is never fun but seriously, these types are genuinely adorable. No matter how many fasts they keep or how much they eat at sehri, they never quite get into the groove and remain perpetually starved.

Here’s praying that the hungry and thirsty find peace one day!

Finally, we have those among us who believe that Ramazan is the best month to solve their weight woes.

You might find them saying no to food, especially fried items at iftar time in the desperate hope of shedding a few kilos.
