As Muslims we believe that the devils are chained in Ramazan so that the blessings of this holy month are not diluted by the whispering of the satan. But then there are people like Aamir Liaquat who make one wonder if we really commit sins on the behest of Iblis or are some of us genuinely worse than the devil himself?

Once a respected scholar, Aamir Liaquat has rapidly degenerated into one of the most controversial and ill-mouthed personalities on Pakistani television today.

He vehemently claims to be a pious, God-fearing Muslim on one hand but his actions and words have only spread hate and intolerance in the last few years.

As reported by Dawn, PEMRA, in its notification observed that Liaquat had created “unwarranted drama on the basis of religion and hurt the sentiments of different sects and public at large”…”Merely for creating sensation and in order to achieve maximum rating.”

Pakistanis did not take Liaquat’s stunt well at all!

As soon as the program aired, many lashed out on the irresponsible way in which the host had conducted the show, clearly inciting hate against a specific religious sect.

Some of the criticism was particularly scathing.

And even though many Pakistanis cannot seem to stand the sight of Aamir Liaquat Hussain, it is also a fact that he still enjoys a sizable fan base.

Inevitably then, his fans also came under fire.

As far as I’m concerned, good riddance; if only for 30 days!
