U.S. Diplomats buying bull in Islamabad

While most Pakistanis are still quite offended about U.S. President Donald Trump’s Afghan policy and his unflattering remarks about Pakistan, U.S. diplomats in Islamabad seem busy trying to win over the Pakistanis with their endearing antics.

In a recent video posted on the Facebook page of U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, two of its diplomats are seen roaming around in Islamabad bakra mandi looking for a bull to buy for Eid-ul-Azha.

In the video we see two U.S. diplomats, a lady and a gentleman (who by the way spoke in fluent Urdu!) haggling with a bull owner over the animal’s price. The bull owner wanted to sell it for a whooping 2 lacs (i.e. Rs. 200,000 or $2000) while the diplomats were convincing him to sell it for 1 lac (i.e. Rs. 100,000 or $1000).

No wonder the video is captioned, “We go cow shopping for Eid-ul-Azha and find out prices were too high #EidulAzha.” 2 lacs is way too high! I absolutely second that!

In the end the U.S. diplomats did strike a deal because the female official is seen walking away with a rather healthy looking bull.

It would be great to see the U.S. Embassy officials do more such activities to enjoy Eid in true Pakistani style!
