Travel season is just around the corner. When the snow capped mountains finally take a break from the grueling winters, when the sun shines and the chilling wind becomes bearable. That is the time when most travelers plan their vacations and head towards the mountains for recreation or adventure. Some essentials are a must when going on a trip to the north.

1. Hiking or Trekking Shoes

Whether you’re a visitor or a hardcore adventurer, your shoes should be up for the challenge. Having good grippers, preferably long shoes, which are comfortable for long foot travel are essential to the tour. They will keep your feet comfy, prevent them from getting wet and provide the grip necessary in the hills.

2. Flashlight/Torch

It gets dark in the mountains really quickly. There are some areas with no street lights and still some more which are even devoid of electricity connections. So, it is always a good idea to carry a torch to tackle any unforeseen situation.

3. Swiss Knife

A swiss knife has everything from a knife to a screwdriver to scissors etc. Especially for adventurers, the knife is handy and can be beneficial in in more than one way.

4. First Aid Kit

In the remote areas far up north, it is likely that you will not find a decent medical facility. So, it is always a good idea to keep a first aid box alongside. It should at least include medicines for fever, stomach ailments, bandages etc.

Another essential, that is often overlooked, is a sunblock. The direct sun rays and the chilling dry winds can cause a skin burn and that too in a matter of hours. It can be very painful and irritating and hence, always keep sunblock with you if you’re traveling to a high altitude area.
