It’s Heartening To See How Pakistanis Are Asking For Captured Indian Pilot Abhinandan To Be Treated With Care

Earlier today Pakistan Air Force (PAF) gunned down two Indian jets that had infiltrated into Pakistani territory, capturing the pilots manning them.

For the greater part of the morning thousands of tweets were posted on Indian Twitter using the hashtag, #PakFakeClaim to refute statements made by Pakistani officials.

However, once videos of the captured Indian Wing Commander went viral on social media, Indian media had little choice but to concede to the truth.

And while there are certainly hatemongers on both sides chanting war slogans, the great majority of common citizens do not want an armed conflict.

In fact an overwhelming number of voices from the Pakistani side have taken to Twitter asking #Abhinandan to be treated with respect and care.

The captured Indian pilots should be given the respect that a serving officer deserves. We are a nation that honors the brave. #PakistanArmyZindabad

At the same time, scores of Indians are demanding captured pilot Abhinandan to be handed back safely in exchange for – and yes you’re reading this right – warmongering media personnel.

In a freshly released video, Abhinandan has also praised the Pakistan Army for treating him well.

With tensions between the two countries having risen rapidly, it is heartening to see Pakistanis standing for the rights and dignity of captured Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan.
