Despite three decades having passed since their debuts, the Khans of Bollywood, i.e. Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan continue to rule the Indian box-office. The fact that even their least performing ventures comfortably cross the Rs. 1 billion (Rs. 100 crore) mark is reason enough for the producers to bet their fortunes on these megastars.
It is then only natural for any actor or actress who features in their films to consider it a huge career milestone. Many well-established actors aspire to share screen space with one or the other Khan. For instance, despite a remarkable legacy of her own, Deepika Padukone has often shared her wish to be cast alongside Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Similarly, Priyanka Chopra’s bucket list includes doing a film with Aamir Khan.
However, there are of course those actresses who have worked with all the three Khans over the span of their careers. Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee and Anushka Sharma are among those actresses who have all essayed meaty roles alongside the Khans.
And then there is Katrina Kaif. The actress has already done multiple films with the Khans. Notwithstanding cameo appearances, Kaif has done 6 films with Salman Khan, 2 with Aamir Khan and her second film with Shah Rukh Khan, Zero is awaiting a December release. Her pairing with the Khans would not have been anything to write home about were it not for the fact that between December 2017 and December 2018, all of Kaif’s releases have been with one of these three big names.
Towards the end of December 2017, Kaif had appeared alongside Salman Khan in the blockbuster sequel of the Tiger series, Tiger Zinda Hai. Her next release, which came only last week was the intensely anticipated, Thugs of Hindostan in which she was paired with Aamir Khan. Her third release in this 12-month period will feature her in a love triangle beside Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in Zero.
Not just that, the only film that Katrina Kaif has signed for the next year is Bharat. This period drama will once again see her sharing screen space with Salman Khan!
With a series of high profile releases in the last 12 months and another big film under her belt, Katrina Kaif has to be the most understated actress in Bollywood right now. Not one to flaunt her success, Kaif has always come across as a humble soul, widely known as the most hard-working professional in Bollywood. And while critics often act miserly when reviewing Kaif’s performances, there is no denying that she is among the most beloved actresses of her generation.
Her commitment to her job, intelligent career choices and her professional reliability have all allowed Kaif to come a long way from her Boom days.
This proves that constant social media presence (Katrina made her social media debut on Facebook only last year) and an over-active PR team are not necessary to succeed.
There is certainly a lot that actors and actresses can learn from Bollywood’s most understated actress, Katrina Kaif.
