The ongoing National T20 Cup has definitely exposed certain weaknesses in Pakistan’s #T20WC squad and so, here is a look at why 5 players including Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf should be dropped for the mega event.
So, What’s The Squad Like In The First Place
Pakistan’s 15 member T20 squad for the ICC T20 world cup comprises of the following players.
Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Asif Ali, Azam Khan (wicketkeeper), Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood.
Traveling reserves – Fakhar Zaman (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Shahnawaz Dahani (Sindh) and Usman Qadir (Central Punjab)
Sarfaraz Ahmed Ahead Of Azam Khan
This is no brainer! Over-weight Azam Khan has been in awful batting form recently and he has looked at see even as a fieldsman. Sarfaraz Ahmed on the other hand is still Pakistan’s second best option behind the stumps (i.e. after Mohd. Rizwan) and therefore, the former captain deserves to be part of the squad.
Shoaib Malik Ahead Of Khushdil Shah
Khushdil Shah has completely failed to impress at the international level and his performance during the ongoing National T20 so far, too has not been much to talk home about. Therefore, Pakistan are better off bringing in the experienced Shoaib Malik.
Dhani Ahead Of Mohd. Hasnain
Mohd. Hasnain too seems out of form and thus, it is just fair to include the in form Shahnawaz Dhani in Pakistan’s T20 squad.
Why Shadab Khan And Haris Rauf Should Be Dropped From Pakistan’s #T20WC Squad
While the names of Azam Khan, Mohd. Hasnain and Khushdil Shah are doing rounds on main stream and social media, no body seems to be talking about Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf. Both of have them have performed poorly at all levels for most part this year. Still, they seem to find a place in the national squad for reasons that lack justification.
Given the recent form of Shadab Khan it only makes sense to include Usman Qadir who seems to in better touch. Moreover, Pakistan have named five fast bowlers and only two openers in the squad for an event i.e. supposed to be played in UAE! They selectors’ then will be better off dropping Haris Rauf and selecting Fakhar Zaman instead.
