Imran Khan without a shadow of doubt has had an extremely eventful life. You might or might not like him, however, there is no denying the fact that the 65 year old cricketer-turned-politician, to his credit, possesses a charismatic personality.

However, charisma on its own is nothing unless an individual has a personal legend of struggle to go hand-in-hand with it. And in the case of Imran Khan, there are at least three elements that make his story fascinating, making his natural charisma all the more appealing to  the masses.

Imran was an ordinary cricketer when he made his debut. Similarly, he clearly lacked communication skills when he initiated his political career some 22 years ago. Not accepting the sub-par beginnings as permanent deterrents, Khan improved dramatically both as a cricketer and as a politician – something that can only be made possible through consistent hard work.

So, it is alright if you don’t agree with his ideas but there is most definitely no harm in learning from his legend of hard work and perseverance.

Khan, during his cricketing career managed to win the ICC World Cup for Pakistan; to date he remains to be the only Pakistani captain who came out victorious against both India and England in their own dens; he was able to build one of its kind cancer facility in the country and is now expected to hold the highest office in the executive branch.

It is said, “Nothing is true unless first a dream,” and Khan’s achievements are a manifestation of a dreamer’s courage.

So, no matter how life bogs you down, never lose sight of your dreams; they are the fuel that will one day propel you to success.

It is one thing to dream and another to conquer. Khan, for sure deserves praise for facing challenges, overcoming obstacles and not allowing circumstances to dictate his course of life.

Grit, then is perhaps the most important secret behind Khan’s charisma and his mass appeal. Only those who persevere are likely to find their metaphorical silver lining in reality.
