After a horrific Asia Cup here is a look at 4 areas that Pakistan must improve ahead of the #ICCODIWorldCup that is scheduled to be played in India next month. It is worth mentioning here that the Babar Azam led team is under massive pressure to improve their performance after losing to India and Sri Lanka earlier this month.
Pakistan’s fielding particularly when they were put under pressure was horrible almost throughout the Asia Cup. There is no way you can win big tournaments without fielding well and so; Pakistan has little choice but to show improvement in the area during the prestigious tournament.
Captaincy Needs To Improve During The #ICCODIWorldCup
Babar Azam’s captaincy was short of expectations throughout the recently concluded Asia Cup. Even Bangladesh’s Shakib-ul-Hassan captained his side better than Pakistan’s number one batter who seemed to be stuck in the T20 mode. Hence, there is no doubt that Babar needs to revisit his captaincy style ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup, 2023.
Pakistani batters struggled against quality spin bowlers throughout the Asia Cup as well as in the ODI series against Afghanistan that was played prior to the Asian event. Pakistan then apart from improving their skills against spin bowling also need to play Saud Shakeel in the playing eleven as he is known for his ability to neutralize spinners.
Spin Bowling Department
Pakistani spinners Nawaz and Shadab Khan have been extremely ordinary for a while now and so, Pakistan must either find a way for the two to deliver or look elsewhere in order to achieve favorable results.
