Shaheen was out of action for a significant period during the year 2022. During the first part of the previous year he got injured while fielding during a Test match in Sri Lanka. Later during the T20 world cup final he again got himself injured while talking a catch. Owing to fitness issues he ended up missing the Asia Cup, the seven match T20 series and the Test series against England as well as the two matches and three ODIs that Pakistan played against New Zealand at home.

If I was running in to bowl in the T20 World Cup like I’m doing now, the result would have been different. I was upset about missing the home series against England and New Zealand. I wanted to play in front of my home crowd and help the team win.”
