Geo TV reported that a #PakvAfg ODI series is on the cards. The report further suggests that the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has approached the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for a possible series in UAE after Cricket Australia refused to facilitate Afghanistan on the cricket field owing to their government’s decision to ban women from participating in the sport.
#PakvAfg ODI Series Proposed
GEO TV in their report referred to an unnamed source who had said, “They (Afghanistan) have approached us to play three ODIs after Australia’s withdrawal from the series which was scheduled to be played in March.
“We are exploring options to find a week’s window after PSL and before our home series against New Zealand.” The sources further confirmed that if the “series happens, it will be played in the UAE”.
It is worth mentioning here that relations between the two boards haven’t been ideal off late. Last three years or so have also seen cricket matches between the two sides become controversial owing to crowd trouble. Relationship between the two neighboring countries too haven’t been ideal during the last few months. Nevertheless, PCB is still not sure if the BCCI will allow its cricketers to travel to Pakistan later in the year for #AsiaCup2023. So, the Najam Sethi led board might facilitate in order to secure support at the Asian Cricket Council from Afghanistan.
