3 Times When Bangladeshi Cricketers And Fans Cried Like Babies

We have all seen cricketers from a given cricket team or even fans crying after a heartbreaking defeat or following the retirement of an icon. However, over the last couple of decades or so we are yet to come across a cricketing nation like Bangladesh that ends up in tears at least once every year. To provide a better understanding of what I mean please have a look at these 3 times when Bangladeshi cricketers and fans cried like babies.

1. The Day Cheema Bowled Them Out of Asia Cup

During the Asia Cup final in 2012 that was played at Dhaka, Bangladesh required 9 runs of the last over to claim the prestigious title. Misbah-ul-Haq the Pakistani captain handed over the ball to pacer Aizaz Cheema who gave away only 7 runs and hence, left the Bengali cricketers and supporters in tears.

2. The Day Karthik Played a Miandad

Now this is a pretty recent one. During the Nidahas Trophy just a few day back, India needed 5 runs from the final ball and Danesh Karthik played a Miandad to hit a six of the final delivery that allowed India a miraculous victory over their rivals from Bangladesh.

Karthik’s scored a match winning 29 of 8 balls and thus, left the entire Bengali dressing room in tears.

3. When Afridi Snatched Victory from the Jaws of Defeat

It was the Asia Cup again and the year was 2014 when Shahid Afridi commenced his innings with Pakistan requiring a humongous 102 of 52 balls at a run rate of 11.77 an over. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat Afridi scored 59 of only 25 balls and left the entire stadium in Dhaka crying as if they were all children and as if Afridi was that evil uncle who had just run away having stolen their candies.
