Best PSL Anthem of the Season

One of the most entertaining parts of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is that time of the year when franchises release their anthems for the season and for the next two months we can see the whole nation humming and dancing to the beats of these songs. This time it’s no different! With PSL fever on it’s peak, here is a quick round up of the songs produced by the teams this year and our take on which team deserves an award for the Best PSL Anthem of the Season.

De Dhana Dhan By Karachi Kings

Although Karachi Kings are doing great this season, their anthem has to be one of the least impressive performances by Shehzad Roy. It does have Roy’s signature style conversational lyrics but I guess most of us are tired of that. Having heard Shehzad Roy’s songs since his debut, I know he is capable of doing much better.

Moreover, the video is so not PSL quality and fails to impress at many levels which is a reminder of the fact that no matter how big the stars you have on board, lack of creativity can be a buzzkill!

Hum Hain Multan Kay Sultans By Multan Sultans

Considering the fact that Multan Sultans are new to the club, their anthem like their performance clearly shows that they mean business. On point music, just the right duration and visuals to die for, after watching this video you will feel like travelling to the city. Great work guys!

Kitna Rola Dalega By Islamabad United

Winners of the first season, Islamabad United’s anthem is run of the mill and entertaining at the same time. The number has recall value to it and the video keeps you hooked all owing to the clever idea of making foreign players sing the Urdu song. Also, the concept although cliched didn’t seem boring because of the picturization!

Dama Dam Mast Qalandar By Lahore Qalandars

The most disappointing team of the season didn’t live upto the expectations here as well. Composed by Hamayoun Khan, Lahore Qalandars’ anthem is nowhere near the number produced last year. I won’t say much on why their anthem didn’t work for me and let you guys decide for yourself. Take a listen!

Ho Ho Ho Ho By Quetta Gladiators

After the news of Badnaam the band composing Quetta Gladiators anthem doing rounds, finally we have an update on who will be singing for Quetta Gladiators. While the delay is reasonable, a glimpse into the anthem which is yet to be released seemed promising as hell. Expecting alot from Aima Baig and Fakhir Mehmood! *fingers crossed*

Best PSL Anthem Of The Season: Hum Zalmi By Peshawar Zalmi

This has to be the best anthem of not just the season but the entire PSL. Headbanging Hum Zalmi is so overwhelming that you will feel goosebumps. It’s like Peshawar Zalmi doesn’t know how to do any lesser than perfect! A rocking anthem by Call the band featuring Leo Twins, the riffs of rabab combined with banging drum beats will compel you to listen to the track on repeat.

Cherry on the top is the mindblowing video featuring Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi moving to the beats. Bold and breathtaking, the grandeur of Zalmi’s anthem is nothing we have seen before and thus, deserves a standing ovation! Not sure about whether Peshawar Zalmi will win PSL this time or not but they have surely won our hearts with this passionate PSL anthem.
