Najam Sethi, PCB’s management committee chairman, has appointed Babar Azam as captain for the ODI world cup that is scheduled to take place in India later in the year. Aaqib Javed and Mohd. Amir had also backed the decision even though both have had a troubled relationship with the Pakistani skipper.

Sethi while talking to Sports Hour recently said, “We will play World Cup with Babar Azam as Pakistan’s captain. We review his position after the ICC event. Babar did well against New Zealand. There is no danger to his captaincy till the world cup. I called Babar and asked him to relax.”

Aaqib Javed while talking to local media had also backed backed Babar as Pakistan’s captain. He had said, “The entire conversation regarding Babar Azam’s captaincy was wrong in the first place. No one can be the ODI captain except for Babar Azam.”

Mohd. Amir on the other hand had also backed the decision. While talking on his official You Tube channel he had said, “The amount of experience that he has as a captain, there is no better option than him.”
