Aaqib Javed recently spoke against the inclusion of Haris Rauf in Pakistan’s Test squad and so, here is a look at what the former Pakistani pacer and head coach of Lahore Qalandars had to say. It is worth mentioning here that Haris plays for the same PSL franchise that Aaqib is part of and recently he made his Test debut against England. However, he suffered an injury during the first innings of the match and couldn’t bowl thereafter.
Aaqib Javed Not In Favor Of Playing Haris Rauf In Test Matches
Aaqib Javed while sharing his opinion on the matter said, “To make a comeback, Pakistan will have to play bowlers. Once they get hold of a bowler, be it in T20Is, ODIs, or Tests – they don’t rest him unless he is ruined. Haris should not be playing Tests because he is not trained (in the format). Play bowlers who can play Test matches. There is Mir Hamza – play such bowlers who can bowl for long periods and know where and how to bowl. And increase the number of bowlers.
“You can’t have part-timers operate from one end. You need wickets. Otherwise, they (England) will score at a brisk pace. Their mindset is to score at a run-a-ball. If they get out in the process, for them, it doesn’t make a difference. They bat at a strike rate of 100 or 135.”
