#ShahidAfridi, Pakistan’s new chief selector yesterday announced a 16 member ODI squad for Pakistan’s home series against the visiting Kiwis and so, here is a look at 3 things that he got right.
#ShahidAfridi Selects Haris Sohail To Beef Up The Middle-order
Haris Sohail has made a comeback in the ODI squad. Shaan Masood too keeps his place. The presence of both senior cricketers should allow the middle-order better a chance of sustenance. It is worth mentioning here that in the format, the middle-order for green shirts has struggled big time during the last 12 months or so. The likes of Iftikhar Ahmed, Haider Ali, Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali etc. have all failed to impress during the period.
Not Selecting Players With Poor Form
The new selection committee has done the right thing by ignoring out of form cricketers like Abdullah Shafique, Usman Qadir and Khushdil Shah who perhaps, need to play domestic cricket again to regain their confidence.
Bringing In New Players
The presence of new cricketers like Kamran Ghulam, Tayyab Tahir and Usama Mir is good news for Pakistan as they have all performed well in the domestic circuit and there is no reason why they shouldn’t have been given an opportunity during Pakistan’s home season.
So, What’s The Squad Like?
The 16 member squad includes the following players.
