PCB is all set to announce its new central contract i.e. likely to be effective from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. It is expected that the monthly salaries of the contracted cricketers will be increased by 10 to 15 percent. Also there is a good probability of batters Khushil Shah, and Shan Masood as well as wicket-keeper batsman Muhammad Haris and all-rounder Muhammad Wasim Junior securing the lucrative PCB contract in the C-category.

Also, skipper Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali and Mohd. Rizwan are likely to be retained in the A-category while Imam-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Fawad Alam and Shadab Khan are expected to be part of the B-Category.

Nevertheless, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (currently in C-category) and Yasir Shah (currently in B-category) are likely to miss out. It is worth mentioning here that while Sarfaraz has struggled to keep his place ever since the emergence of Mohd. Rizwan in 2019, Yasir Shah has had fitness related issues because of which he has not been able to represent the national side for a while now.
