The Southampton Test saw Fawad Alam fail and hence, here is a look at why the middle-order batsman deserves another opportunity in the third Test of the series between Pakistan and England.
Only One Innings At Southampton For Fawad Alam?
After years and years of mistreatment the left-handed batsman for obvious reasons came to bat while he was under massive pressure to prove his worth. Hence, it is understood that he needs more than one innings to showcase his talent and ability and that it won’t be fair to let go of him without allowing him a proper opportunity (i.e. despite his much talked about batting stance).

Because He Deserves A Fair Chance Like Everyone Else
Cricketers like Haris Sohail, Fakhar Zaman, Faheem Ashraf, Shan Masood, Imam-ul-Haq etc. have been given an extended run in recent years to prove themselves at the highest level. Hence, it makes no sense whatsoever, to discard Fawad after he has failed in one innings only.
Because Asad Shafiq & Azhar Ali Aren’t Performing
It is no secret that that Test skipper Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq are seriously short on runs. One if not both will have to be omitted from the squad if the trend continues in the final Test of the series against England. Thus, Pakistan requires a seasoned campaigner like Fawad Alam to come good to allow the green an able replacement for one of the two in the middle-order.
