Multan Sultans after losing to Karachi Kings yesterday became the first franchise that has been knocked out of PSL 4. So here is a look at why Sultans were bound to be knocked out of the tournament.

The fact that the franchise was yet to be sold at the time of squad selection made it pretty obvious that the Sultans faced an uphill task from the word go. The new franchise owners quite frankly did not have enough time to finalize things in an ideal manner. However, let’s just hope that they put up a better show next year.

Absence and Lackluster Performance Of Key Players

Steven Smith was always going to be a key player for the Sultans. His injury most definitely was a major blow to the cause. Moreover, other key foreign players like JM Vince and Andre Russell and local stars like Shahid Afridi, Junaid Khan, and Mohd. Irfan couldn’t quite deliver on a regular basis.

Shoaib Malik has been an over-rated captain all his career and it is hardly ever that while leading a side, he has managed to inspire positive results. Hence, it is only understood that Sultans are likely to find a replacement for him before the next season.
