As the latest episode of Indo-Pak tensions intensifies, social media in South Asia remains largely engulfed in hate speech. While some responsible citizens continue to spread a message of peace in order to de-escalate the situation, people like Fayaz Chohan have once again chosen to do the otherwise; substantial evidence of which can be found in this viral video.

In the video, Fayaz Chohan can be seen passing humiliating remarks against the Hindu community which makes up for a significant minority in Pakistan. Thus, the video has infuriated many Pakistanis who are now demanding the government to remove Chohan from his designation with the hashtag #SackFayazChohan trending on Pakistani Twitter.
Pakistani celebrities have also taken to Twitter to condemn Chohan’s derogatory remarks against the Hindu community.
Following the outrage, Chohan has issued an apology, stating that his statement was targeted at the Indian media and leadership. That said, this recent act of his has only added to the list of times he embarrassed PTI with his crass remarks.
In a country that already suffers from multiple divides, creating a new fracture, that too based on a factor as sensitive as religion, is the last thing we need from the political leadership. Hence, if PTI really wants to transform the country into “Naya Pakistan”, then the party must do away with all those people who dwell on hate.
