During the last few hours multiple women have come forward to accuse Test cricketer Imam-ul-Haq of manipulation. Ever since, some people on social media have argued that it is a case of #MeToo. Others however, feel that while Imam’s behavior is condemnable; it not a case of harassment. Nevertheless, it is an unwanted scandal and one that could have been avoided. Hence, here is a look at what PCB must do after Imam-ul-Haq’s #MeToo controversy in order to avoid a similar incident in future.

Set An Example

It is not for the first time that something of this sort has happened in Pakistan cricket. Imad Wasim’s scandal was not much different. However, the entire episode was swept under the carpet by PCB. The attitude of bosses governing the board then has to change. An even uglier scandal is bound to emerge if PCB fails to take action yet again. Hence, it is absolutely imperative that an example is set and Imam is banned for at least a couple of games because he has brought a bad name to Pakistan cricket.

Introduce A Crash Course

It is no secret that Pakistani cricketers even the ones who are somewhat educated lack awareness on basic issues. Thus, PCB must introduce a crash course on subjects like racism, harassment etc. This will help our boys in understanding pertinent issues of the modern world. This will also help them in comprehending the repercussions in case they fail to meet the minimum behavior standards.

Training On The Use Of Social Media

It is not a board’s responsibility to train cricketers on the use of social media. Nevertheless, on more than one occasion Pakistani cricketers have embarrassed themselves and the entire county by posting third rate content (that includes absolutely stupid pictures as well). Therefore, PCB must train our boys on the responsible use of social media platforms. This will also allow them to understand how misuse in this regard can lead towards an unwanted controversy.
