Another series of leaks exposing big names involved in tax evasion landed as a bomb on the world’s elites last Sunday. As the name suggests, the Paradise papers revealed offshore tax safe havens that helped noted global figures of politics, entertainment and business world in avoiding imposition of heavy taxes.
Inclusion of names like Queen Elizabeth II, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Pakistan’s Ex-Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Qatari Prince Hamad Bin Jasim in the list provoked interesting reactions back home; reason why we see #ParadisePapers trending on Twitter in Pakistan.
