He’s urged Pakistanis to be very careful amid this COVID spike, maintain a safe distance, and wear a mask. It’s a simple request, he added.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Shoaib Akhtar wrote in Urdu,

Mask pehn lain, social distancing rakh lain. Bacha lain zindagi apnay buzurgo ki aur baro ki aur apni bhi [wear masks, follow social distancing, save lives of your elders and yourself].

He even chose a fitting image to post along with the appeal.

Almost two weeks earlier, the Rawalpindi Express had reminded the BBCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) to reconsider restarting PSL and IPL.

Now that the IPL is canceled, the fast-bowler tweeted that he saw it coming. He even mentioned that he’d earlier suggested the Indian Cricket Board to reassess its decision.

Nothing more important than saving human lives during current covid crisis in India, he wrote.
