Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Mohd. Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed are likely to constitute the country’s top five. Rizwan however, might bat at the number five position instead of four i.e. if Pakistan decide to try Iftikhar Ahmed at the crucial number four position. Pakistan might also give Saud Shakeel a chance in the middle-order however, such a move seems more likely later in the series and not during the first ODI of the series. Similarly, the probability of Mohd. Haris also seems likely but at some point later in the series.

Shadab Khan and Mohd. Nawaz are likely to lead Pakistan’s spin bowling attack. They are also likely to serve as all-rounders in the lower-order and/or during the death overs. Nevertheless, Pakistan might rest Nawaz and play Usama Mir instead i.e. if they plan to test Mir ahead of #AsiaCup23.
