PCB Confirms Pakistan’s Tour To West Indies 2021
While confirming the tour, Wasim Khan, CEO PCB said, “In consultation with Cricket West Indies and keeping an eye on this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, we have agreed to replace one Test match with two additional T20Is.
“In addition to playing England, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and the T20 World Cup in away series, we will be hosting New Zealand, England, West Indies, and Australia in the next eight months.”
So, What Does The Tour Itinerary Look Like?
Itinerary that has been finalized by the two boards then is as below.
Jul 27 – 1st T20I, Kensington Oval, Barbados
Jul 28 – 2nd T20I, Kensington Oval, Barbados
Jul 31 – 3rd T20I, Guyana National Stadium, Guyana
Aug 1 – 4th T20I, Guyana National Stadium, Guyana
Aug 3 – 5th T20I, Guyana National Stadium, Guyana
Aug 12-16 – 1st Test, Sabina Park, Jamaica
Aug 20-24 – 2nd Test, Sabina Park, Jamaica
Why The Tour Holds Significance?
The tour is likely to provide some good T20 match practice to the green shirts before the world cup that is scheduled to follow soon after the trip. Despite victory in South Africa, the batting particularly, the middle-order has looked unsettled and so, the five match series should be a very good opportunity to prepare for the remaining season.
Also, important is to note that only once before has Pakistan won a Test series in the Caribbean Islands. The Windies then haven’t done too well in the format off-late and this then should be a very good opportunity for Pakistan to improve their record in West Indies.
