Pakistan completed a highly successfully tour to Zimbabwe where they were able to win the tri-nation T20 series involving the hosts and the Australians and where they were also able to clean sweep the One Day International (ODI) series 5-0. Nevertheless, not all Pakistani cricketers were able to benefit from the tour and hence, here is a look at 3 Pakistani cricketers who benefited from the Zimbabwe tour and 3 who didn’t!

3 Who Benefited:

1. Asif Ali

Asif Ali during the tour was able to justify and consolidate his position in the finisher’s role not only in the T20s but also in the ODIs and therefore, is now among Pakistan’s first choice players in both formats.

2. Imam-ul-Haq

Imam-ul-Haq scored 3 centuries in 5 ODIs and thus, consolidated his position as Pakistan’s first choice opener alongside Fakhar Zaman.

3. Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman has simply had an out outstanding tour. Not only has he broken a number of national and international records during the ODI series but he has now also taken over from Babar Azam as Pakistan’s most reliable ODI batsman in the current playing eleven.

3 Who Didn’t:

1. M. Amir

Amir had an up and down series and never was he able to produce a magical spell. If he can’t get early wickets regularly and earn himself five-fors against a depleted Zimbabwean side then it just shows that he either lacks commitment or form.

3. Junaid Khan

Junaid too like Amir has had an up and down series and clearly, has lost his place to Usman Shinwari as Pakistan’s first choice new ball bowler  .

3. Hafeez

Hafeez didn’t deliver in the T20s and couldn’t find himself a place even in a single ODI. The professor then might as well be wondering if the time is right for him to call it a day.
