Mohsin Abbas Haider’s press conference that was aimed at redeeming the fallen star did answer a few questions but for most part, it did not make him look any better at all.

4 Statements during Mohsin Abbas Haider’s Press Conference that Didn’t Make Sense

He kept saying she did “things” behind his back, leaving room for all sorts of ambiguity

One theme that was oft repeated in Haider’s press talk was allegedly Fatema’s habit of “hiding the truth” or telling outright lies.

At more than one occasion, Haider hints at the “messages” she hid from him, the people she met behind his back and the “sins” he kept forgiving.

This is all extremely problematic because he is intentionally keeping the definition of “sins” open for interpretation. The intention seems aimed at airing speculation that she was unfaithful. At the same time, the ambiguous nature gives Haider the legal cushion to not be held accountable for perpetrating a lie about his wife’s character.

His statements about his wife’s brother make no sense

At one point Mohsin Abbas Haider alleged that when his wife was pregnant with their daughter, Fatema’s own brother and sister sent him messages saying that the to-be-born child did not belong to Mohsin. The actor had further alleged that his wife’s siblings had gone as far as to send him photographs of her with other men.

In the same breath, Mohsin also alleged that during a domestic disagreement between him and Fatema, the latter’s brother had come with a weapon and threatened to kill Mohsin.

Both these statements are contradicting each other. It makes no sense for Fatema’s brother to first tell her husband that she was unfaithful and then threaten her husband’s life defending her.

He wanted a life-long separation where he could re-marry but she would remain alone

While answering questions from the media, Mohsin Abbas Haider shot himself in the foot when he thought Fatema Sohail unreasonable for not wanting to remain in a state of life-long separation.

No woman in her right mind would agree to a settlement where her husband would be good to re-marry but she would remain companion-less all her life.

The “…playing the woman card” bit was extremely offensive

Accusing a woman of “using the woman card” belittles every woman who has ever faced violence, abuse or harassment. Any sensible man, who truly respects women and understands the many struggles that they face simply because of their gender would never, in his right mind use the term, “woman card.”

This was plain offensive and only served to ossify people’s sentiments against him.

2 Statements during Mohsin Abbas Haider’s Press Conference that Did Made Sense

He seemed to be providing child support

Fatema Sohail had alleged that Mohsin was neither emotionally nor financially invested in the welfare of their newborn.

Mohsin, on the other hand seemed quite confident when he said, “I covered all her medical bills during pregnancy and have been providing child support. I have bank receipts to back my claim.”

Taking money from his father-in-law

Fatema had also alleged that Mohsin had taken 5 million from her father to set-up a business.

Mohsin made a valid point when he asked Fatema to share bank receipts of transactions that were made from his father-in-law’s account into his.

Quite clearly, 5 million is a huge amount and it is unlikely that such a sum was paid in cash. If such a tranfer was made, Fatema’s family should ahve some sort of documentary evidence to back the claim.
