Green shirts leave for Australia next month where they are scheduled to play three T20s and a a couple of Test matches. So, here is a look at major developments that are expected ahead of the all-important tour.

Change Of Captaincy

Sarfraz Ahmed is likely to give up Test captaincy. Media reports suggest that Ehsan Mani, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already asked the wicket-keeper batsman to resign. Already under massive media and public pressure owing to a poor home series against the Lankans; Sarfraz is expected to show little resistance. Babar Azam is then likely to take over from the 32 year old. Azhar Ali however, is also a strong candidate for the job.

Fawad Alam’s exclusion from the Test squad has been an issue of debate since long. So, with Misbah-ul-Haq under fire following a 3-nil loss to the the Sri Lankans; he is all set to ensure that the right people are picked for the job from here on wards. Hence, Fawad Alam is almost certain to be part of the Test team for the difficult tour.

Mohd. Amir and Wahab Riaz have given up on Test cricket. So, there is every possibility of Misbah selecting a new bowling partner for Mohd. Abbas before the green shirts leave for Australia. The problem however, is that Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi are still not fully fit and Mohd. Hasnain seems too young for the longer format. So, expect some new faces in the fast bowling department and expect Usman Shinwari to make his Test debut during the two match series which is also part of the ICC World Test Championship
