The Eternals star, Kumail Nanjiani, shared a tweet to support the Pakistan cricket team during the T20 World Cup, but his fans didn’t quite like it.

For a long time, Kumail Nanjiani has been the face of South Asia in Hollywood. His appearance in Marvel’s Eternals just added to the representation and efforts to include more South Asians in the entertainment industry. Other than his movie hitting the theaters, Nanjiani is super excited about Pakistan qualifying for the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup semi-finals.

Ah yes, we know because he tweeted about it and we were like, whaaat!?

The Big Sick star took to Twitter to cheer for the Men in Green, and it was both interesting and surprising.

His tweet was a bit shocking because Nanjiani has been apologetic about his Pakistani roots, which is evident from his interviews. Therefore, when he celebrated Pakistan’s victory against Namibia, it delighted his fans a little too much.

People were excited to see a Marvel hero cheer on for the Men In Green.

But in the midst of happy faces, there were people who got salty because Nanjiani hasn’t had good things to say about Pakistan in the past.
