That Pakistanis are succumbing under financial woes is no secret. The last one year has been especially difficult with a sharp increase in the cost-of-living and growing joblessness. However, it seems the government is finally waking up to the financial crises that average citizens are struggling against. As a small but welcome step, Fawad Chaudhry announced the launch of mineral water bottles that will only cost Rs. 1 per liter.
The launch of the government-led mineral water brand is currently only aimed at government offices. Minister for Science & Technology, Fawad Chaudhry believes that this mineral water will serve as a cheap alternative to the brands that are currently being used in government offices and will compliment PTI’s austerity measures.
The Pakistan Council of Research and Water Reserves has spearheaded this effort and so far prepared bottles in 500 ml packaging.
Fawad Chaudhry has received a lot of appreciation by netizens for launching the mineral water bottles.
While this is certainly a news to appreciate, we – like many Pakistanis who reacted to the news – wish that the government would also introduce similar measures to provide relief to common citizens who are facing the brunt of inflation from the front-line.
