Aamir Liaquat Husain, once revered for being a “religious scholar,” has made quite a name for himself for being controversy’s favourite child. Whether its his infamous Ghalib filum wali video, his constant channel hopping, his second marriage or his countless Twitter feuds, Husain seems to value his notoriety like no other public figure in Pakistan.

And then there is Adnan Sami Khan, a celebrated Indian musician who is, interestingly a former Pakistani national. On his part Khan has also won notoriety for his multiple marriages and pro-India statements that often leave Pakistanis bereaved.

Aamir Liaquat Husain and Adnan Sami had a most unpleasant exchange of cringe-worthy tweets during the wee hours of Sunday night.

The spat began when Adnan Sami was asked by a Pakistani netizen to comment on Kashmir.

The singer replied by saying, ” Yes… It’s one of the beautiful parts of India .”

To this tweet, another Pakistani netizen made a comment taking a dig at the Indian Air Force pilot, Abhinandan and his “The tea is fantastic” comment while he was in Pakistani captivity in February 2019.

Adnan Sami responded by grandly twisting facts, “Yes..He went..Shot an F-16 down; Had a cup of tea..came back..Got a ‘Vir Chakra’- Cool! #adayswork#fantastic

This statement by Adnan Sami apparently did not go down well with Aamir Liaquat who is always on the look-out for a fight to pick.

The former televangelist retorted with a tweet that too, had little to do with facts, ” Yes.. He went… shot his identity and spit on the graves of his forefathers had a betrayal drink.. got hatred from Pakistan .., Fool”

In response to Aamir Liaquat Husain, Adnan Sami resorted to very saqeel angrezi, calling Husain a “pimple” and his brain an “unimaginative pedestrian molecule,” – whatever that really means!

Khan’s tweet, seemed to have given Husain a green light to declare an all out war of words. He replied to the “pimple” comment by calling Adnan Sami Khan an ” abcess filled with the pus.”

With tensions between Pakistan and India at an all time high, it is plain distasteful to see people with considerable influence on both sides of the border resorting to such pettiness and that too on a public platform.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record: may sanity prevail!
