Team Selection Must Not Be Biased
Babar Azam has often been accused of giving preference to his close friends and the cricketers that he personally likes. If true, the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Usman Qadir and Shadab Khan have certainly benefitted because of Babar’s bias. They were allowed multiple opportunities even when they were out of form. On the other hand, talented cricketers Imad Wasim and Saud Shakeel have perhaps suffered because of the skipper’s behavior. Hence, during the world cup, the Pakistani captain must ensure that nothing other than merit dominates the matters relating to selection.

Babar Azam without a doubt is the backbone of Pakistan’s batting in all formats of the game. His recent performance against quality spinners however, hasn’t been as good as was expected of him. Moreover, no captain in Pakistan is able to continue for too long if his own performance is not up to the mark. Therefore, in India where the ball is expected to take turn, Babar must devise a plan that allows him to overcome his weakness.

Babar Needs To Be Brave And Creative
Stuck in T20 mode, Babar Azam as the team’s captain was horrible during the Asia Cup. His field placements and bowling changes in particular were extremely poor. The Pakistani captain then, needs to improve his style of captaincy and somehow find a way to be both brave and creative.
