Ramiz Raja turned to twitter to express his disappointment over a comprehensive yet a “colourless” Pakistan victory in the second One Day International (ODI) against Zimbabwe.

So, here is a look at 3 reasons why the former Pakistan captain makes a valid point.

1. Scoring Daddy Hundreds and the Need to Work on Strike Rates
Why Pakistan's Tri-Series Final Victory Is Significant

Pakistan is yet to produce a batting show where one of their batsmen goes onto score a double century or where the team total crosses the psychological 400 runs mark.

Historically, the green shirts have relied heavily on their bowlers to deliver particularly, when playing against quality oppositions. Hence, against a top team if and when bowlers strike Pakistan wins and the day they fail, more often than not the batting fails as well.

Therefore, Ramiz makes a valid point and without a shadow of doubt it is high time that the Pakistani batsmen get into the habit of scoring daddy hundreds and at the sort of strike rate that is compatible with the modern style of play.

2. Consistency in the Bowling Department

Pakistan quite frankly is yet to find successors to bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq. Even though, the current lot has delivered time and again, they lack consistency. Hassan Ali or M. Amir for example despite plenty of experience at the international level are still vulnerable to having an off day.

Hence, anyone who has watched Pakistan play in the 90s understands what Ramiz means by a “great bowling spell” and how it can go a long way in giving confidence to the Pakistani bowlers to produce similar stuff against the big guns.

3. Getting into the Habit of Dominating

Pakistan’s batting looks shaky every time they begin to chase. There is this anxiety associated to their game and you just can’t help but wonder if they will collapse all of a sudden. The series then should be played in a manner where the batting line while making use of the opportunity learns to develop this habit of dominating oppositions.
