Good 9 years after the 2011 world cup final was played, Sri Lanka has initiated a criminal investigation and called up Mahela Jaywardene & Kumar Sangakkara to find out if the Lankans lost to India intentionally.

Aravinda De Silva & Upul Tharanga Grilled
At the start of the investigation the then chief selector i.e. Aravinda De Silva and the opening batsman in the game i.e. Upul Tharanga were grilled by the authorities concerned. Tharanga scored only two runs during his half an hour stay at the wicket.
Aravinda De Silva declined to comment after returning from the inquiry during which he is believed to have been quizzed for around six hours.

Mahela Jaywardene & Kumar Sangakkara Called Up
Former Sri Lankan skippers i.e. Jaywardene & Sangakkara have also been called up to appear before the newly established sports-related anti-corruption unit. Former sports minister, Mahindananda Aluthgamage had earlier come forward with claims of the game being fixed. Arjuna Ranatunga too had come forward with similar allegations in recent years.

Intelligence Reports Sought
While speaking to media Superintendent Jagath Fonseka said that intelligence reports alongside inputs from unspecified international sources was being acquired for further investigations.
