Media reports suggest that Mickey Arthur has recommended leg spinner Shadab Khan as Sarfraz Ahmed’s replacement to lead the green caps in the limited over versions of the game. So, here is a look at why it is not a suggestion worth looking into and why Shadab Khan should not be Pakistan’s Captain.

Too Early
It is only a little over two years that Shadab has made his international debut. He is only 20 years of age and with so many senior cricketers around; it would be a little too early to appoint Shadab as Pakistan’s skipper. The better thing here would be to name him as Pakistan’s vice-captain and allow him time to gain experience if PCB really wants him to takeover in the long run.

Giving Mickey Too Much Of Control
If Mickey has actually recommended Shadab’s name then it is almost certain that the head coach is looking to enhance his influence in the dressing room. A young captain will most definitely give Mickey too much of control which PCB must avoid particularly because, Mickey has a history of making wrong decisions over the last two years or so.

Jeopardizing A Promising Career
Senior cricketers have rebelled almost every time PCB has appointed a junior cricketer. A similar move then is bound to fetch a similar result. Therefore, PCB must not jeopardize a promising career by listening to a foreign coach who even if reinstated will leave in two years time. There are so many reasons that explain why Shadab Khan should not be Pakistan’s captain right now. PCB we all hope are aware of them!
