The opening ceremony of the fifth edition of Pakistan Super League or PSL 5 is only a few days away and hence, here is a look at why the tournament is going to be a make or break moment in Mohd. Amir’s career.
Requires Big Performances And Public Support To End Isolation
It is no secret that Amir’s decision to retire from Test cricket hasn’t gone well with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as a result of which he has been dropped from all formats. The left-arm pacer then requires public support behind him which is only possible if he is able to put up some big performances during PSL 5.
Mohd. Amir Has To Prove Selectors Wrong During PSL 5
Amir’s performance during the last few months has been ordinary to be fair. Thus, the decision to drop him did not make way for a lot of criticism for the selectors. The south-paw then has little choice but strike regularly during the tournament in order to prove the selectors wrong as this seems to be the only possible way through which he can reclaim his lost glory.

Bowling Attack Beginning To Settle Across Formats
Pakistan’s bowling attack seems to be settling down across formats. Shaheen Shah Afridi has become the leader of pack in all three formats. Mohd. Abbas and Naseem Shah are Pakistan’s first choice bowlers to support Afridi in Test matches while Haris Rauf and Mohd. Hasnain have earned the same status in the T20 format. Usman Shinwari is likely to partner Shaheen with the new ball the next time the green shirts play an ODI.
So, as far as the T20 format is concerned, there is place for Amir as a reserve seamer in the squad and that too if he is able to show form during PSL. In the ODIs on the other hand, he can still get into the eleven as a third seamer however, for that to happen, again the left-armer needs to deliver during the prestigious event.
