Babar Azam failed to impress during the ODI series against England in 2016. He was still new to international cricket and was under massive pressure to keep his place. Inzamam nevertheless, did not drop him after a pretty bad English tour and instead allowed him more opportunities to express himself at the highest level. The backing worked and Babar as we know today, is arguably the best batter in world cricket.

Shaheen Afridi, Faheem Ashraf, Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan are some of the players who made their debut during Inzamam’s tenure as the country’s chief selector. All of them are today are among the best in business. Moreover, Pakistan also won the ICC Champion’s Trophy during his previous tenure and so, it just makes sense to have him back as the chief selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
