Haider Ali’s 69 run innings against Lahore Qalandars yesterday was extremely impressive and hence, here is a look at why the Peshawar Zalmi teenager seems all ready for an international T20 debut.
Misbah-ul-Haq Looking For An Opener
Misbah-ul-Haq inducted Ahsan Ali in Pakistan’s T20 squad that recently played the homes series against Bangladesh. Thus, it is apparent that Pakistan’s chief selector and head coach is on the look out for an opening batsman to partner Babar Azam in the format.
The likes of Ahmed Shehzad, Sharjeel Khan, Ahsan Ali etc. haven’t had a good PSL so far and therefore, Haider seems to be the only worthy candidate for the vacant slot for Pakistan’s next T20 assignment.
A Decent PSL
Haider despite his limited experience has had a good PSL. It has become a norm for PCB to select deserving youngsters from the event while giving them preference over performers from other domestic tournaments and thus, the teenage sensation is likely to be selected for the shortest format of the game when Misbah-ul-Haq announces the squad for the upcoming English tour.
A Lack Of Quality Batsmen
As always Pakistan’s seems short on batting talent. Therefore, following Haider Ali’s 69 run innings and after him showing signs of a long-term solution to Pakistan’s batting woes; the national selectors are likely to invest in him sooner rather than later.
