There is always a flip side to things. Amir’s retirement then is no exception. He left the entire county in embarrassment and ended up paying heavy for being selfish in 2010. By retiring just before Pakistan’s tour to Australia, he has again adopted a self-centered approach.

Technically, Pakistan forgave and invested in him at a time his career was all but over. Hence, he should have shown a little decency by allowing the men in green at least time till the end of this year so that a backup could have been prepared. He wasn’t doing too well in the format but was still a worthy partner for somebody like Mohd. Abbas and could have definitely played the role of a work horse. Now was his time to give back but perhaps, that is something he is yet to learn!

PCB should expect trouble if other cricketers, bowlers in particular, decide to follow the footsteps of Amir. Test cricket we all know is not as lucrative as the other two versions. Hence, Amir’s retirement from Test cricket sets a wrong precedent and one that can go onto hurt the progress of the green caps in the longer version of the game.
