This week, a video of a Gujranwala man brutally beating his wife (almost to death) went viral on social media. The abuser, reportedly Usman Arshad, is a repeat offender and has been regularly assaulting his wife for the past eight years (since the time they got married).
In the latest violent attempt, Arshad tried to kill her by pointing a gun at her, the wife complained. All of this happened in front of the couple’s three kids and a domestic help.

The accused’s wife told a digital news agency that she had had enough of the beatings and was ready to take her life. Before going forward, she found some CCTV footage of the brutality and forwarded it to her friend, asking her to make it go viral after she’s gone. Her friend somehow convinced her to not do anything like that and put the video up on social media for people to see.
The CCTV footage shows Usman assaulting his wife in a way worse than an animal. He can be seen dragging her by her hair and thrashing her with a shoe.
Before taking this step, the survivor had tried speaking with her with her in-laws, but her repeated pleas fell on deaf ears. In fact, this is what she got to hear:
A man is the hakim of his wife; he can do whatever (the hell) he wants with her, but the wife must endure it in silence, said, father-in-law of the survivor after she told him about her husband’s brutal domestic violence.
Following the virality of the video, police took notice of the incident and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused, Arshad. The incident took place on June 10 in Gujranwala’s DC Colony area, FIR stated.

Policed reported, the accused Usman has been arrested and a domestic abuse case has been registered against him at the Colony’s police station.
According to reports, the wife is undergoing treatment in a hospital after sustaining several injuries in the head.
