Superintendent of Police (SP) and chief of Peshawar police’s rural circle, Tahir Dawar had gone missing from Islamabad on 26 October 2018. Nearly two weeks after his disappearance, the Afghan authorities revealed that a body, believed to be that of SP Dawar was found in Nanghar province.

What followed the announcement were nearly 48 hours of uncertainty as the martyred officer’s family waited to receive his mortal remains. This period of uncertainty was tactlessly handled by both the government and representatives of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) as they each engaged in cyber warfare to blame Dawar’s martyrdom on the other side.

Bereaved Pakistanis on the other hand, spent the greater part of the week questioning the security lapse that allowed Dawar’s kidnappers to not merely nab him from the federal capital – which has hundreds of security cameras placed all across its landscape – but also take him to Afghanistan undetected.

DG ISPR’s Twitter thread gave a glimpse of the insecurities rife in the minds of average citizens. While there were certainly many who asked for calm and defended the government’s position, however as far as this thread is concerned, the unhappy seemed to outnumber the sated.

The Islamabad Chief Commissioner announced that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) would be set-up to investigate the circumstances of SP Dawar’s kidnapping and consequent murder. However, the deceased’s brother, Ahmeduddin Dawar said in a statement that a locally constituted JIT would not be acceptable to the family. He stated that his brother’s murder involved two countries and so, an international investigation was in order.

Aamir Liaquat Husain Remarried

Aamir Liaquat Second Wedding

After much conjecture and confusion it was finally confirmed that Aamir Liaquat Husain was serious about bringing a second bride home.

Pictures from Liaquat’s valima went viral over the weekend where he was seen sitting next to his second wife, Syeda Tuba Anwar. According to her Twitter profile, Tuba is Manager Corporate Affairs at Bol Network.

Earlier in June when the news of his nikkah had broken out, Aamir Liaquat’s first wife, Bushra Aamir seemed to have been taken by surprise.

However, once it was confirmed that the nikkah-nama doing rounds on social media was in fact true, Bushra had sent out a passive-aggressive message indicating that her husband had been cheating on her without her knowledge.

Shortly after the valimia pictures became public, the televangelist met with stiff criticism for leaving his first wife in the lurch. Liaquat responded to his critics with this defense:

Shahid Afridi made headlines after a clip of his press talk in London went viral. During the media interaction, Afridi spoke at length about his feelings on the Kashmir issue, saying that if it took Pakistan and India to give-up their claims on the disputed territory to bring an end to the sufferings of the Kashmiri people, they must do it.

Afridi had also said, “We don’t need Kashmir; we can’t even handle the four provinces that we have.”

Following this statement there was an initial wave of uproar but once the entire video came out and people were able to understand the context in which the latter statement was made, most Pakistanis expressed solidarity with the cricketer and his humane take on the seventy year old dispute.
