Pakistan’s middle-order showed a bit of promise during the final phases of the recently concluded New Zealand tour. Nevertheless, Pakistan’s weakest area was exposed once more during the warm-up match. Middle-order’s mainstays Iftikhar Ahmed (22 runs of 18 balls), Asif Ali (14 runs of 12 balls) and Khushdil Shah (0 of 1 ball) failed to deliver once more. All-rounders Shadab Khan (14 runs of 14 balls) and Mohd. Nawaz (10 runs of 11 balls) too struggled on the Brisbane track.

The batting performance clearly indicates that Pakistan are likely to heavily depend on both Babar Azam and Mohd. Rizwan during the event and that an injury to any one of them can actually end the country’s campaign in a huge disaster!

Shaheen And Fakhar Still Not Fit?

Shaheen Afridi who is making a comeback following an injury bowled only 2 overs while upper-order batter Fakhar Zaman who has also returned to the squad after an injury didn’t play the match at all. The green shirts require the services of both cricketers however, yesterday’s development clearly explains that they aren’t fully match fit which is of course bad news for the dressing room.

Spinners Shadab Khan and Mohd. Nawaz have been Pakistan’s strength during the last few months but the during warm up they were completely neutralized by the English batters. Pacers Naseem Shah and Hasnain too went for a plenty and so, we wonder if Pakistani bowlers will really be able to continue as the country’s strength during the prestigious tournament.
