A verbal altercation between a woman, Amrat Bibi and Shakargarh lawyers turned violent when the men in black coats began beating her up.

What exactly happened?

Amrat Bibi went to attend a court hearing regarding a door in the street near to where she lived in Shakargarh, Narowal.

“They stopped me from going into the chamber, dragged me outside the court and started beating me. My arm has been hurt, my leg has been wounded and my hair pulled out.”

The video of her being brutally beaten up while police officials and bystanders looked on, went viral on social media.

According to Naeem Iqbal, the local bar association’s president, the woman was accompanied by some men who tried to kidnap one of the lawyers named Yasir Khan, who is also accused of beating the woman.

The police registered a case against the lawyers under sections 354 (assault of a woman), 147 (rioting) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offense committed in prosecution of a common object) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and has ordered the Narowal DPO to submit a report.
