Ramiz Raja Ecstatic After #AbdullahShafique Leads Pakistan To Victory

Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) congratulated the green shirts after young opener #AbdullahShafique lead them to victory during the first #PakvsSL Test match in Galle.

#AbdullahShafique Registers Multiple Records During The Mammoth Chase

Pakistan chased down a record 342 runs to beat the home side and register the following records.

• Pakistan became the first team ever to successfully chase down over 300 runs at Galle.

• Pakistan are now the only visiting team to have chased a target of over 300 runs in Sri Lanka.

• During the last ten years Pakistan have won the most number of matches while chasing a total of over 300 runs. 

• No other team has won more matches while scoring over 300 runs in a fourth-innings of a Test match in Asia.

• Pakistan registered their second highest successful run chase in Test history. 

Opener #AbdullahShafique defied odds to score a brilliant century during the fourth innings of the match and so, his 160 runs allowed the 22 year old to enter record books. He was able to secure the following records.

• Shafique became the first batter in the world to bat for over 500 minutes in a successful fourth-innings run chase.

• Shafique is now the only batter in the world to bat for over 300 balls in fourth-innings on multiple occasions before turning 23.

• This was also the highest score by a batter in a successful fourth-innings run chase before turning 23.

• Shafique now also has the most runs that a Pakistani batter has ever managed to score after the first six Test matches.

• He now also holds the best average among Pakistan openers who have played a minimum of 10 innings.
