Seminar to end Discrimination against people living with disabilities along the LoC

Populations settled near the Line of Control (LoC) are vulnerable to collateral damage. Trapped between cross border skirmishes civilians often bear the brunt.

Many that manage to survive are left physically disabled for the rest of their lives. The post-trauma stress and psychological issues caused by proximity to violence are another long and terribly sad story altogether.

The fact that individuals who suffer from disability are subject to discrimination makes their already difficult lives even more testing. This is especially an important for the residents of Kashmir since the population of people living with disabilities along the LoC is steadily increasing thanks to cross-border tensions.

To address this issue students affiliated with the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) and supported by Pakistan Youth Change Advocates (PYCA) organized a seminar on “Ending Discrimination Against People with Disabilities.” The event was arranged in a village near the LoC and aimed at making the local population more empathetic to the plight of the scores of physically disabled individuals living among them.
