India lost to England by 31 runs at Edgbaston during the opening Test of five-match series. India’s batting collapsed in both innings which pretty much exposed the fact that despite years and years of experience their batsmen lack the skill to deliver outside of Asia particularly, during the early half of a tour.

No wonder then, India couldn’t play like a number one ranked Test side and lost to England who are number five on the ICC rankings table!

Some people tend to forget that India is trying its best to do away with the unwanted tag of “Lions at home, lambs abroad”. The defeat most definitely doesn’t help the cause and if anything should further dent the confidence of a batting line-up that like other teams from the sub-continent has a history of choking in conditions that offer pace and bounce.
