After the conclusion of the #PakvsNZ T20 series and prior to Pakistan’s tour of Ireland and England, let’s examine whether or not #BabarAzam is repeating the errors that he had made during his previous tenure as the nation’s cricket captain.

Is #BabarAzam Making Biased Decisions?

During his previous tenure, Babar often faced criticism for favoring his friends within the team and for creating challenges for players with whom he didn’t share a strong working rapport. In the recent New Zealand series, his handling of Imad Wasim drew attention and speculation.

Given Pakistan’s experimentation with different combinations, it’s uncertain if there were underlying issues with Babar’s intentions. Nevertheless, we earnestly hope that he prioritizes merit and fairness in his second stint as the country’s captain.

Babar found his form with the bat after stepping down as Pakistan’s captain, but it appears that his consistency has once again waned since taking over as captain of the white-ball men’s cricket team. This dip is concerning for the Pakistani squad, highlighting the urgency for him to regain his consistent performance. Without improvement, his tenure in the leadership role could be at risk.

Babar’s recent bowling decisions fell short yet again. He tends to underutilize bowlers who are performing well, leaving their full quotas unfulfilled. With the upcoming T20 World Cup in June, we hope that the introduction of new coaching staff will provide him with the opportunity to enhance this aspect of his captaincy.
