Pakistani cricketers dominate #ICCAwards 2021 as Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi win big. It is worth mentioning here that Mohd. Rizwan had earlier won the ICC Men’s T20 Cricketer of the Year award.

Babar Azam And Shaheen Afridi Dominate #ICCAwards
Pakistani skipper Babar Azam has been named as the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. Babar during the previous year scored 405 runs in only six innings at an average of 67.50. While referring to his century in England the top-order batsman said, “The best innings of the year if you ask me, it’s this one. It’s the best innings of my career. I was struggling a bit, I needed a knock like that and it gave me a lot of confidence.”

Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi on the other hand was named as the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2021. Happy with the achievement, the 21 year old said, “Every performance I gave for Pakistan was enjoyable and memorable and was made possible through the support of my teammates. But to me, the standout performances remained the three wickets against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, and the 18 wickets I took in the two-Test series against the West Indies.”

Joe Root was also among the winners. He was adjudicated as the Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year. While refering to the achievement England’s Test captain said, “Incredibly proud to have received this award. Humbled to be in the same breath as a number of players around the world. It means a huge amount to get this award.”
