From the perspective of a Pakistani fan, another horrific game of cricket came to an end yesterday at Adelaide. Pakistan’s form across formats has been dismal for a while now. However, things have gone from bad to worse ever since the appointments of Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis and Azhar Ali took and so, here is a look at why Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must come out of denial and take a u-turn on their decision.

So, What Happened To Pakistan Under Misbah-ul-Haq?
Misbah hasn’t even worked as a chief selector cum head coach for six months. Still, he has ended up making controversial decisions on both fronts already. His idea to play Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal and Mohd. Irfan in the T20 format has rightly received a lot of criticism. Similarly, the move to allow Iftikhar Ahmed, Musa Khan and Naseem Akhtar debut games during a difficult tour has not gone down well with former cricketers not just in Pakistan but even in Australia.
Moreover, once the number one T20 side in the world; Pakistan has now lost seven consecutive T20s out of which six were played during the time of Misbah.
Hence, it has become obvious that Pakistan is in need of an experienced coach who understands the modern game and who is capable of adding more value in the dressing room.

Pakistan’s Bowling Woes Under Waqar Younis
Regardless of the format, Pakistani bowlers have looked pathetic to say the least during the last few months. Former Australian cricketers pointed out that never have they seen a bowling attack as weak as Pakistan’s during the last few decades. All senior bowlers across formats seem to have become completely ineffective and therefore, with results not coming under Waqar; the only hope lies in bringing in someone else.

Azhar Ali Continues To Be Himself
Test captain Azhar Ali has continued to be the gentleman that he is during the recently concluded tour to Australia. Nevertheless, do you really need a thorough gentleman leading the green shirts is the question. He is clearly out of form and perhaps the pressure of captaincy has only added to his woes.
Pakistan play a couple of home series next. Thus, with things looking so bleak under Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis and Azhar Ali; the time is right for PCB to accept that the combination hasn’t work. There is little or no doubt about it at the moment and hence, bosses at PCB must let go of them and their own false ego with it before more damage is done.
