In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Twitter was abuzz with tweets claiming that some Indian Air Force jets had crossed the international border and entered Karachi.

The news of Indian Air Force jets entering Karachi at around 4 AM in the morning created panic among netizens with many questioning the idea of hostile adventurism in the time of a pandemic.

People in Karachi – or at least those who were still up in those wee hours – began posting real-time updates.

At first there were a few tweets about what people believed was a formation of Indian fighter jets in the Karachi skies.

After some time, a few people reported of a complete blackout in their area.

Later, the presence of Pakistan Air Force jets patrolling over Karachi “confirmed” many people’s misgiving that something unusual was happening.

Since the whole fiasco is yet to be dignified by officials on either side, netizens are tweeting at IAF regarding the rumors of their jets crossing the border.

Once the sun finally came up, the panic fueled by online speculation was quickly replaced by references to the “fantastic tea” served to one IAF officer by Pakistan last year.
